If you know the mastermind behind Sweet Meadow– Mrs. Melanie Hobert, you know that she is passionate about all things eco-friendly in the wedding industry.
Though we understand green weddings aren’t always easy to achieve or a major priority for brides, we aim to encourage each wedding party we have the privilege of working with to remain mindful of the heavy environmental footprint weddings tend to leave. We’ve gathered a few eco-friendly wedding trends and honeymoon locations to get your earth-conserving wheels spinning…

1. Bio & Chic The biodegradable plates shown above are the perfect (trendy) addition to your wedding table, and they double as a helping hand to the environment. Made of bamboo, one of the most important trees for the environment, the plates are sustainable and stylish. They come in various sizes and shapes as well. Just what is so “green” about bamboo? In sum, bamboo grove releases some 35 percent more oxygen into the air than a similar-sized stand of trees, and it matures (and can be replanted) within seven years (compared to 30-50 years for a stand of trees), helping to improve soil conditions and prevent erosion along the way. Bamboo is so fast-growing that it can yield 20 times more timber than trees on the same area.
2. Soy Candles Making soy candles are also a happy choice for the environment. Why? Soy’s greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable. While the global reserves of oil shrink and paraffin prices increase, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow. The soy that you buy from CandleScience today was likely in the ground less than a year ago. And chances are that same field is growing more soy for the candles to be made in the future. So, if you want that warm, evening glow during your reception- opt for soy and know that you’re doing the earth a big, good-smelling favor:)
3. Succulent Favors. There are TONS of sites for eco-friendly favor ideas. Whether it be a succulent, (or any kind of tree for that matter) soy soaps, donations to national preserves or a simple sample of local honey… the options are endless!
Now that you’ve planned the perfect eco-friendly wedding, how about that honeymoon? We stumbled across some great eco-friendly escapes at The Bridal Guide and just had to share… I mean look at this place >>>
