– Q&A With Cock-A-Doodle-Do Petting Zoo –
Q. How and when did you decide to open Cock a Doodle Doo Petting Zoo? –
A. My animals and I grew into the business in spring of 2013. Animals seem to be attracted to me. They find their way into my life. When you have more than seven mouths to feed everyone has to earn their keep and so a petting zoo was born.
Q. Where did you find your animals?
A. Truthfully they seem to find me but those who come from another source the most common denominator for three of the animals is Craig’s List.
Q. Tell us more about your horse and carriage.
A. Horses have been in my blood since I was six years old. I grew up with mules, plows, pulling horses, buggies, ponies, and carts. As an adult I did fill-in work for another carriage company. I loved working weddings. Bringing the bride in a beautiful white vis-a-vis horse drawn carriage and seeing her get out and start down the aisle is as close to Disney Magic as you can get outside of Orlando. That company sold me my favorite carriage and so a carriage company was born.
Q. What’s the most unique event you and your animals have been a part of?
A. Hands-down is it is the Burlap Bride photo shoot at Sweet Meadow Farms!
Q. We want to comment on how well-behaved and accustomed to humans your animals are. What is the adaptive process like?
A. Animals are very much like humans. They have their strengths and weaknesses. Play to their strengths; help them deal with their weakness. Be steady in their lives and talk to them. And never forget that a way to an animal’s heart is through their stomach.
Thank you, Cock-A-Doodle Do Petting Zoo. It was a pleasure to work with you and to get to know your animals. For more information on their horse and carriage services, click HERE.
