Q&A with Videographer, Steve Schumacher, at Sterling Cinematics. We asked Steve to share a little about himself, his work and his weddings. Please, sit back and take a look at his wedding videography HERE. You’ll be glad you did!
Q: What inspires your videography?
A: I am constantly inspired by my couples. Because every bride and groom are different and every wedding day is different, I get a new perspective with every wedding I capture. The inspiration then translates when I’m shooting on the wedding day, but also when I’m editing the couple’s wedding film. I’m very thankful for that.
Q: When did you begin videography? When did that transfer into Sterling Cinematics?
A: I actually have an extensive television background, which allowed me to learn nearly every aspect of video production. Over the years, I shot a few friend’s weddings. I soon discovered that I got much more enjoyment from weddings than my “day job”, so in 2007, I decided to make the move from TV production to wedding films. I haven’t looked back since!
Q: Tell us a little about your daily life. What are your hobbies and hidden talents?
A: I love spending time with my family when possible, even if it’s just hanging out and doing nothing. I don’t have many hidden talents…except for juggling. There’s not too much need for jugglers though, unfortunately.
Q: What detail about wedding videography do you wish brides and grooms would be aware of, understand?
A: Photography can never replace a quality wedding film, much like the wedding film can never replace photography. A quality wedding film will be able to tell the couple’s story in ways that photography is not able to. To hear the vows, reception toasts, laughter and cheers, is invaluable. To see how long your first kiss lasted or to see exactly how you danced your first dance cannot be fully relived by photography alone. Wedding videography, like photography, is an investment and will be all you will have left after your wedding day.
Q: Number 1 tip for the bride on her wedding day possibly as it relates to videography and your final product.
A: Try and remember to take everything in on the wedding day, but don’t get overwhelmed. You’ll never remember everything, but that’s okay because you’ve hired a wedding videographer, right? 😉
Thank you kindly, Steve! We couldn’t agree more.
P.S. Here is one fine example of his work. Enjoy!
