A tablescape to bid farewell to winter foliage.
I am glad to say goodbye to nipped fingers and toes from cold winter wind,
somber clouds and penetrating rains.
But, I will miss warm crackling fires, hearty stews and soups, beautiful blankets of snow on the fields, winter sunsets and cardinals feasting at the feeder.
I’m sad to say goodbye to fragrant edgeworthia, hyacinth, hellebore, Salix (pussy willow) and shamrocks. But most of all, I will miss the daffodils springing up in fields afar reminding us of past lives where homes once stood and someone planted the flowers that still bloom so many years later.
I am looking forward to blooming dogwoods, flowering cherry, redbud trees in spring, tulips, iris, peonies and the return of the purple martins.
Each season presents it’s own beauty. And with each season, a beautiful setting for lovers to be wed. So, I’m sad to say goodbye to winter brides in ivory, holding bouquets of burgundys and dusky blooms.
I am looking forward to brides in pastels, and cotton gowns anew.
