Searching and deciding on a wedding venue is essentially one of the most intimidating and important experiences during a bride’s planning process. Why? Because a venue hosts one of the most important days in any gal’s life- her wedding day! The venue essentially decides the aesthetic, feel and comfort of the bride, groom and their guests. Here at Sweet Meadow, we strive to make the venue selection process simple. But whether our venue is the place for your special day or not, we want to ease the stress of venue hunting and encourage you to ask questions. Below are a few things to think about before deciding who will host your big day;
1. Is the ceremony site inspiring on its own or will you need to bring in many features to make a statement? (When budgeting, it is important to take into consideration just how much decor will be needed in the space).
2. Does the wedding venue provide ceremony seating, and do you like it? (purchasing extra seating can be expensive, especially for large numbers).
3. How much decor/florals will you need to decorate the RECEPTION area to a level that speaks to your aesthetic?
4. Does your wedding venue include any decor with their site fee?
5. Do you think you might benefit from a day of coordinator to ensure the details for your day run smoothly and so that you can relax and enjoy your own wedding?
6. What is the specific layout of the venue and does it provide transportation for elderly and disabled guests?
7. Does the wedding venue provide staffing to adequately handle your number of guests and show them where to go and what to expect?
8. When can you arrive at your venue and when do you have to leave? Your vendors will charge extra if they are only allowed a short amount of time to access your venue both at the beginning and the end of the evening.
9. How is the lighting at your venue, particularly if you are having an evening wedding?
12. Does your venue provide a comfortable and relaxing place to hang out, spend time with your girls and get ready before your wedding ceremony begins?
10. Does your wedding venue provide linens and do you like them?
11. Does your wedding venue have kitchen facilities for the caterer? A caterer will charge extra if they need to set up a remote kitchen.
12. Does your wedding venue provide a comfortable and relaxing place to hang out, spend time with your girls and get ready before your wedding ceremony begins?
13. Does your wedding venue provide refreshments for your wedding party on the day of? (It’s a long day for everyone. Staying hydrated and nourished is important).
Happy Planning!
