Lately the wedding industry has taken a big turn. Brides everywhere have fallen in love with fall weddings with venues booking their fall dates almost 2 years in advanced. Call us old-fashioned, but we here at Sweet Meadow are suckers for a June wedding.
All this cold winter weather and the blanket of white snow on the ground have us yearning for those summer nights, filled with family, friends, and late nights enjoying the summer air. On days like today, when we are bundled up inside, coffee in hand, with a warm fire in the hearth, we like to reminisce by looking through our weddings over the last year. January is the perfect month to reflect, so as we are winding down and getting ready for the next wedding season, it seemed like the perfect time to relive the memories from Megan and Matt’s stunning June wedding.
Megan and Matt were married at Sweet Meadow on June 3, 2017, under the big oak tree with an overcast sky. The lighting that day made for the most gorgeous pictures — just take a look for yourself.
This Sweet Meadow couple stole our hearts with their love story. “Let’s never stop writing love letters to each other,” read a note Megan wrote to Matt. From their first look, all the way to their send-off at the end of the night, it was obvious these two were absolutely smitten. Every detail of the day reminded us of the all-encompassing love these two have for each other.
When spring fades to summer here at the farmhouse, new flowers start to bloom, and the color palate begins to shift. Leaves begin to fill the trees, the rolling pastures become greener, and the sky takes on a new shade of blue. The colors our couple chose could not have been more perfect for a June wedding. Bride, Megan alongside wedding planner, Molly McKinley of Molly McKinley Designs created a look ideal for summer. Various shades of emerald combined with hints of white and taupe were the perfect complement to the summer shades on the farm.
As guests began to arrive, fruit-infused water awaited them at our pre-ceremony site. When the ceremony time grew near, the guests made their way to the oak tree. They were greeted along their walk with a special treat of the couple’s journey to love. Reminders of the events such as the couple’s first date, up to the day they would unite as one were chronicled for their guests’ enjoyment.
Once guests arrived at the ceremony site, they were able to relax in the shade of charming umbrellas until the couple said their vows. After they said “I do,” family and friends rang bells to signify the joining together of the couple. Immediately following the intimate ceremony, guests were invited to a cocktail hour hosted by none other than the couple’s charming pup, Pippa.
Although we love our coffee, nothing is better than a refreshing cocktail served on a summer night, especially when it’s named after an adorable furry friend. Signature cocktails, Pip Pip Hooray, a combination of ginger ale and peaches, and Jack and Pippa, a spin on the classic Jack and Coke, were served on the porch. Chatter and laughter of familiar friends reuniting could be heard over the song of the cicadas as they anxiously waited for the couple to join them.
One of our favorite perks of summer are the gorgeous sunsets here on the farm. If you plan your ceremony time just right, you can have your newlywed photos taken in front of the setting summer sun. After having their sunset portraits made, Megan and Matt made a grand entrance complete with their first dance.
Zest catering provided a beautifully prepared dinner. Guests enjoyed a salad with grilled peaches and pecans, bourbon barbecue short ribs, and roasted seasonal vegetables. As if we weren’t already pining for the longer days of summer, the delicious farm fresh food that comes with the season makes our favorite time of year that much more desirable.
Our Sweet Meadow couple ended the night after enjoying champagne toasts, cake-cuttings, confetti tossing, and hugs goodbye from family and friends.
After these winter blues, we are dreaming of the emerald green summer brings, and all the other hues in between.
Grab a cup of your favorite coffee or hot tea, your favorite blanket, cuddle up on the couch, and enjoy this gorgeous June wedding while dreaming of warmer months. Trust us, we’ve been doing the same.
